One of the most exciting conservation stories unfolding on Lake Sinissippi is the ongoing fish stocking program run by our partners at the Lake Sinissippi Improvement District (LSID) โ with active funding from the LSA.
In recent years, the LSID has carefully released more than 20,000 fish into the lake, targeting species that help restore a healthy, balanced ecosystem:
- Largemouth Bass
- Northern Pike
- Walleye
- Catfish
The results are beginning to show. Mature specimens of each species are now being spotted throughout the lake, and natural reproduction is bolstering the new populations. This is exactly what a successful stocking program looks like.
Board Member Joe Sharp authored a detailed feature article in the Spring 2025 Sinissippi Waves newsletter with photos and scientific updates on the progress. Check the Documents section for the full newsletter.
