Lake Sinissippi is home to a diverse and improving fish population โ and that's no accident.
One of the most impactful projects our partners at the Lake Sinissippi Improvement District (LSID) carry out each year is a targeted fish stocking program designed to restore a healthy, balanced ecosystem in the lake.
How It Works
The LSID carefully selects species that are native to the area or historically present in Lake Sinissippi, then works with certified hatcheries to purchase healthy juveniles for release. The LSA actively funds these efforts through member dues, direct donations, and targeted fundraising campaigns.
In recent years, the LSID โ with LSA support โ has released more than **20,000 fish** into the lake, including:
- Largemouth Bass
- Northern Pike
- Walleye
- Catfish
The Results So Far
The program is working. Mature specimens of each stocked species are now being spotted throughout the lake, and natural reproduction is beginning to bolster the new populations. This is a strong sign that the ecosystem is stabilizing and beginning to self-sustain.
This not only improves the ecological health of the lake โ it also makes fishing more rewarding for our lake residents and visitors.
How to Help
Every donation goes directly to fish stocking and other lake restoration projects. Even a small contribution makes a measurable difference.

- **[Become an LSA Member โ](/get-involved/join)**
Thank you to everyone who has made these results possible. With continued support, the best fishing days for Lake Sinissippi are still ahead of us.
